WoW: Forever datamined mounts and transmog aren’t for Forever, Blizzard says

The mounts, pets, toy and transmog sets datamined from the latest World of Warcraft: Forever beta build are not meant for WoW: Forever, Blizzard says. Community manager Kaivax posted the statement on the official forums on October 16, after players worried the models pointed to a cash shop that doesn’t fit the game’s classic style.

What Blizzard said

“A number of art assets were recently datamined in the latest Beta build of WoW Forever. While we appreciate the feedback and discussion online, please be advised that these assets are not intended for this version of World of Warcraft.”

Kaivax, Blizzard community manager, October 16, 2026

What dataminers found

Wowhead listed the models it found through encryption keys added in the new build:

• Mounts: Spectral Wolf Pack (it looks like it lets party members ride alongside on their own wolves), Crimson Rooster, Verdant Sea Turtle.
• Pets: Pinky, Blossoming Ancient (changes look with the season) and Gill’el.
• Toy: one camping item that changes how your tent looks.
• Transmog: two ensembles, including a Blademaster set, plus a totem back piece.

Several of these look like retail-style models, and that is what set off the complaints. It is common for one version of WoW to carry encrypted files for another; the recent Rexxar shop sets were first spotted on China’s Titan Reforged servers before reaching retail.

Does this mean WoW: Forever has no shop?

Not quite. Blizzard only said these specific assets aren’t for Forever. It didn’t comment on a cash shop either way. What is official so far is the pre-purchase lineup: the Skyborne Heroic Pack, Skyborne Epic Pack and the limited-time Warcraft Forever Collection, all covered in our WoW: Forever launch guide.
