Zul’Aman opens in Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary on October 22 at 3 p.m. PDT (7 p.m. Brasília, 11 p.m. London). It is a global launch, so every region gets it at the same moment. The same update removes the attunements for Hyjal and Black Temple and spreads Badges of Justice to almost every raid boss.

Zul’Aman at a glance

Zul’Aman is the Amani troll stronghold just south of Quel’Thalas, entered from the Ghostlands. Zul’jin wants to bind the power of the animal gods to his strongest warriors, and your 10-player raid goes in to stop him. You do not need any attunement to enter, and the lockout is 3 days, so a group can clear it twice a week.

The six bosses are Nalorakk (bear), Akil’zon (eagle), Jan’alai (dragonhawk), Halazzi (lynx), Hex Lord Malacrass and Zul’jin.

The timed run and the Amani War Bear

Zul’jin’s lieutenants hold hostages. As soon as your raid passes the gates, a timer starts and the Amani begin preparing to execute them. Each lieutenant you kill frees a hostage, gives extra loot and adds time to the clock. Free all the hostages before the timer runs out and the raid earns the rare Amani War Bear mount. In practice that means a fast route through the four animal bosses, so practice the pulls before you push for the bear.

Everything else that changes on October 22

  • No more attunement for the Battle for Mount Hyjal and Black Temple.
  • Heroic keys now need only Honored reputation, and every Heroic dungeon moves to its final, easier tuning.
  • Doomlord Kazzak and Doomwalker drop better loot, now Bind on Equip instead of Bind on Pickup.
  • Badges of Justice drop from Kazzak, Doomwalker, every boss in Karazhan, Gruul’s Lair, Magtheridon’s Lair, Serpentshrine Cavern, Tempest Keep and Zul’Aman. G’eras in Shattrath sells stronger gear for them, including Nether Vortex.
  • Epic gems can come from Magtheridon’s Black Sack of Gems and the Jewelcrafter’s Brilliant Glass. Sacks and Brilliant Glasses you already have will not.
  • Primal Nether and Nether Vortex are no longer soulbound, and Outland faction vendors sell Leatherworking recipes for Greater Drums, Knothide Quiver and Knothide Ammo Pouch.

How to get ready before 7 p.m. Brasília

  • Bank your current Badges of Justice: the new G’eras stock is the fastest catch-up for alts.
  • Hold unopened Black Sacks of Gems? They stay on the old loot table, so open them whenever you want.
  • If your guild skipped Hyjal or Black Temple because of attunement, this is the week to schedule them.
