MapleStory Classic World: how to start, from install to your 2nd job
Nexon Launcher or Steam, account rules, job instructors and the key dates now that Classic World is open to everyone since the October 21 Grand Launch.

MapleStory Classic World opened to everyone on October 21 (Grand Launch at 11:14 AM PDT). Founder’s Access players (Orange Mushroom or Zakum packages) have been in since October 6. Here’s how to install, what the account rules are, and what your first hours look like. All of it comes from Nexon’s FAQ and release notes.
Install: Nexon Launcher or Steam
- Nexon Launcher: log in, find MapleStory in your library, switch on the MapleStory Classic World toggle and download the standalone client. It’s the smaller download.
- Steam: MapleStory and Classic World come bundled. Install and update the base MapleStory first, then link your Nexon account to Steam. Easiest path is on the web, under Account Settings on Nexon’s site.
- Either way: you need a verified Nexon account. Windows and macOS are supported.
Account basics
- Up to 3 characters per account. Deleting one comes with a waiting period.
- Your in-game name isn’t shared with regular MapleStory. Sanctions are: a ban in one applies to the other.
- You can’t run MapleStory and Classic World at the same time.
- Languages: English, plus Spanish in beta. Key bindings come in Classic or Modern style (Modern supports WASD). Xbox and PlayStation controllers work once you enable controller support in Game Options.
Your first hours
Everyone starts as a Beginner on Maple Island, then moves to Victoria Island. At level 10 you take your 1st job; at level 30 you pick a 2nd-job path, both from the same instructor:

- Crafting opens at level 10, with six crafting NPCs.
- Citizenship opens at level 12 in Henesys or Kerning City and gives shop and travel discounts.
- Party quest: ‘First Time Together’ in Kerning City, from level 21. Since October 8 it only runs on channels 3, 4, 5 and 6, because channels 1 and 2 got too busy, per Nexon’s release notes.
- During Founder’s Access the level cap is 100, and Forgotten Hollow isn’t open yet.
Key dates
- October 14, 11:59 PM PDT: Founder’s Packages sale ended (upgrades on Nexon’s site ended then too).
- October 21, 11:00 AM PDT: Grand Launch.
- November 30, 11:59 PM UTC: last day to collect Founder’s Package items from your mailbox.
