World of Warcraft’s Midnight 12.1.5 content update is now live in all regions: it launched in the Americas on October 13 and reached Europe on October 14 with weekly maintenance. The update brings a nine-chamber challenge, a single-boss raid, a mid-season refresh, and more story content in Quel’Thalas and Zul’Aman.

Quick summary

  • Release: October 13 (US) and October 14 (UK page), with weekly maintenance
  • New challenge: Labyrinth of Kindo’jan, a nine-chamber, Delve-like challenge
  • New raid: The Unbinding of Kith’ix, a single-boss raid; Mythic supports 15 to 25 players
  • Also: Season 2 mid-season refresh, Keystone Myth, Aqir Invasions and the next Midnight story chapter

Blizzard published the schedule on September 29 and the detailed notes on October 1; both were checked again on October 12. The different dates reflect regional maintenance calendars, so use the service notice for your realm before planning around a specific hour.

A nine-chamber challenge and a focused raid

The Labyrinth of Kindo’jan is a nine-chamber, Delve-like challenge. Blizzard’s UK overview also lists a Tier 11 solo challenge, Mythic gear, cosmetics, and titles. The update adds The Unbinding of Kith’ix, a single-boss raid beneath the Venomous Abyss.

The raid is listed with Story Mode, Raid Finder, Normal, Heroic, and Mythic difficulties. On Mythic, the encounter supports a flexible group of 15 to 25 players. That makes it possible to plan a raid roster around a smaller, focused boss encounter rather than a full multi-boss wing.

Season 2 and the Midnight story continue

Blizzard also lists a Season 2 mid-season refresh and Keystone Myth, Aqir Invasions, class and dungeon changes, and the next part of the Midnight story. The narrative follows the fallout from Ula’tek’s defeat and a new threat tied to Quel’Thalas and Zul’Aman.

The patch notes group many smaller adjustments under classes, dungeons, achievements, housing, PvP, Prey, the user interface, accessibility, and Warband reputation. If you only have time to check a few sections after the update, start with the new challenge, the raid difficulty that fits your group, and the Season 2 changes that affect your character.

Update, Oct 20: after launch-week Labyrinth bugs, Blizzard extended Fabled Let Me Solo Him: Kindo’jan until the October 27 weekly maintenance (Americas).

Update, Oct 20: Orin’s research ends with this week’s maintenance (October 20 in the Americas, October 21 in Europe). Talk to him near the Catalyst in Silvermoon City and complete “Ascending with Venomstones” to start getting Ascendant Venomstones. The crest cap is lifted this week too. (Blizzard)

How to get into the Labyrinth of Kindo’jan

The Labyrinth sits north of Amani Pass in Eversong Woods. There are two ways in:

  • Campaign route: accept “The Long Way Around”, which takes you to Liadrin above Thresh Cove.
  • Direct route: fly to Tokka’s Landing on the Coiled Isle and grab “The Labyrinth” from Kul’amara the Fierce.

Both lead to Valeera Sanguinar at the entrance and “Dangers Untold and Hardships Unnumbered”. Clear the Chamber of Rites, then talk to Kinduru, the spirit guide, to unlock the rest of the chambers. After that, the full Labyrinth is open to your whole Warband. You don’t have to clear it in one go: a single wing still pays out, and every extra room means more loot and more risk.

Ascendant Venomstones: how to unlock them

This is the part with a timer. During maintenance the week of October 13, Orin Straylight, near the Catalyst in Silvermoon City, offers “Ancient Depths, Ancient Venom”. Turn it in and he starts researching. The week of October 20 he follows up with “Ascending with Venomstones”, and from then on the stones drop from:

  • every Heroic or Mythic raid boss;
  • Mythic+ keys at +10 and above;
  • Tier 11 Bountiful Delves;
  • Nightmare Prey Hunt Champion gear chests.

Ten Ascendant Venomstones, spent near the Catalyst, raise the item level of a fully upgraded Season 2 Hero or Myth weapon, trinket or necklace, or of a max-quality Tidal Crafted one. The crest cap also lifts the week of October 20.

Behind on last week’s chain? If you finished “In the Catalyst’s Shadow” and “Prismatic Potential”, Orin has offered “Umbral Blessings of the Catalyst” since the week of October 6. It lets you trade gold, Voidlight Marl or Veteran Mistcrests for one extra Nebulous Voidcore a week.

Keystone Myth is back

“Midnight Keystone Myth: Season 2” asks for a Mythic+ rating of at least 3600 during Season 2. The rewards are the “the Venomous Contender” title and the Timelost Saddle.

What to check after installing the update

  1. Open Blizzard’s 12.1.5 notes for the final details and any changes added before release.
  2. Haven’t done “Ancient Depths, Ancient Venom” yet? Pick it up from Orin first: “Ascending with Venomstones”, the quest that unlocks the stones, only comes after his research.
  3. Open the Labyrinth (campaign or Tokka’s Landing) and unlock the remaining chambers with Kinduru.
  4. If you raid, check the difficulty and group-size details for The Unbinding of Kith’ix before you assemble your roster.
  5. Review class, accessibility, and interface sections that apply to your character.

The US overview lists October 13, while the English (UK) overview lists October 14 during weekly maintenance. Neither overview gives one launch hour for every region.
