Release date: February 23, 2027

Evercold was first framed as a January 2027 launch at the North American Fan Fest. In Tokyo, Square Enix moved it by about four weeks: the expansion launches on Tuesday, February 23, 2027, with early access from Friday, February 19, 2027 for players who pre-order, starting at 1:00 a.m. PST (6:00 a.m. in Brazil, per the Lodestone). Pre-orders open on Wednesday, November 4, 2026. The dates come straight from the official FFXIV account on X during the keynote.

Zephyr: the second new job

Berlin already revealed Bastion, the dual-greatshield main tank. Tokyo revealed the second job: Zephyr, a physical ranged DPS that fights with a crossbow and support from an avian familiar called a Nephele. Square Enix posted the job trailer and key art during the keynote. Like Bastion, Zephyr is tied to the new Evolved battle mode; both new jobs sit outside Reborn Mode, which keeps the current combat system for players who prefer it.

More of the Fourth: Sessrymnir, Skiðblaðnir, Hjartadunur

Players already knew Naglfar (Water) and Hringhorni (Fire). Tokyo added walkthroughs of Sessrymnir, the Realmship of Earth, and Skiðblaðnir, the Realmship of Wind, plus a second player town, Hjartadunur, after Fargarth. Official videos went up on the FFXIV YouTube channel and were linked from the Earth, Wind and Hjartadunur posts. A new allied society, the fylgjur, also appears in Evercold.

Combat systems and gear

  • Alliance Raids will split into two separately queueable halves, with a new high-difficulty 8-player mode on the way (official post).
  • Gauntlet of Power chains five consecutive battles against randomized dungeon bosses (official post).
  • Seasonal gear comes from Adventurer Activity points and can be upgraded through the new Fierce difficulty. Raid gear still comes from 8-player Savage content and can gain item level and Materia slots (official post).

Level cap still rises from 100 to 110, and earlier Fan Fests already covered Auto Content Balancing, Reborn Mode, Evolved Mode and the seasonal framing of even/odd patches. Full schedule for the rest of Fan Fest Tokyo is on our Fan Festival 2026 Tokyo page. The teaser site at na.finalfantasyxiv.com/evercold still holds the pre-Tokyo overview and will catch up as Square Enix posts written recaps on the Lodestone.

Also announced: FFVII Remake raid, Evangelion, housing

  • FFVII Remake crossover raid: a new 8-player raid series, Beyond the Lifestream: Fated Collision, will also introduce the new Fierce difficulty level (official post).
  • Housing overhaul: major housing updates start with Patch 8.1, including custom interior dimensions and a redesigned interface (official post).
  • EVANGELION crossover: Square Enix showed a new preview of the Ghosts of Desire collaboration (official post).
  • New dungeons: a quick look at upcoming dungeons, including a village inside a volcano and an underwater area (official post).
  • Full trailer and 35 million players: the full Evercold trailer is out (official post), and FFXIV passed 35 million registered adventurers (official post). Square Enix asks creators to mute the alliance raid trailer’s audio in VODs by the end of June 2027 because of third-party copyright (official post).
