ESO Update 52 PTS patch notes: Jerall Pass, Rimegales, minimap and AoE taunts
ESO Update 52 is on the PTS (v12.2.0): Jerall Pass 40v40v40 PvP, Rimegales, minimap, companion customization, higher housing limits and AoE taunts.
The Elder Scrolls Online’s Update 52 is on the PC/Mac Public Test Server (PTS) as patch v12.2.0 since October 26, 2026. ZeniMax says the live release is currently scheduled for January 19, and it mixes Season Two quality-of-life features with the first Season Three content: the Jerall Pass PvP zone and the Rimegales world events.
Quick summary
- Where: PC/Mac PTS (patch of about 2.6 GB, PC NA characters copied)
- Live date: currently scheduled for January 19
- Headliners: Jerall Pass 40v40v40 PvP, Rimegales, minimap, companion customization, bigger housing limits
- Tanks: new area-of-effect taunts and pulls on a few abilities
- Next organized PTS session: November 4, 8 p.m. ET (10 p.m. in Brasília)
Jerall Pass: new three-alliance PvP zone
Jerall Pass sits north of Cyrodiil in the Jerall Mountains and has a single keep, Fanthor Keep, plus its resources for all three alliances to fight over. It launches as 40v40v40, and ZeniMax may change the cap after watching population and queues. It becomes permanently available on January 27, the start of Season Three; on the PTS it is open now.
- Jerall Marks: a new currency from repeatable bounty board quests and named bosses, spent at the Specialty Procurements merchant (past Veterancy rewards, Mythic leads, trial and dungeon gear on rotation) and the Siege Merchant.
- Keep upkeep: keep and resources go up to rank 5, but ranks 3 to 5 now decay unless players deposit Keep Supply Crates.
- Zone scrolls: single-use offense and defense buffs that only work in Jerall Pass.
- A hidden being appears under Fanthor Keep a few times a day; you can fight it or find clues to win it to your side.
Rimegales world events
Ice storms and Rime Giants hit Eastmarch and the Rift. You build bonfires to resist the Frigid Chill debuff, then push the invaders back. It is ESO’s first world event on a fixed server clock: in the Rift it starts every hour on the hour, in Eastmarch every hour on the half hour. Dark Anchors pause while a Rimegale is active.
Housing: higher furnishing limits
A new furniture streaming system lets ZeniMax raise the limits. Notable homes double traditional furnishing slots from 350 to 700 (1,400 with ESO Plus), and Classic homes go from 250 to 300 (600 with ESO Plus). Console players will see furniture stream in when entering a house; collision stays in place. Target dummies now have a combat cap: 5 in Staple, 15 in Classic and 25 in Notable homes. The PTS also has a new Notable home to test, Shimmerfrost Vale, and 66 new furnishing plans.
Minimap, companions and Armory
- Minimap: turn it on in Interface settings, under Heads-Up Display, or place it with Edit HUD (Beta).
- Companion customization: hats, hairstyles, markings, facial hair, adornments and skins. Companion helmets now show by default.
- Scribing in the Armory: each build remembers the scripts of scribed skills on its bars.
AoE taunts for tanks
Unstoppable and its morphs, Goading Smash and Goading Vault now taunt up to 6 enemies that were not recently taunted. The Tormentor set taunts every enemy it damages, not just the first. Inner Beast stops taunting and instead pulls up to 6 enemies to you. ZeniMax says the goal is to make tanking more accessible without making traditional skills pointless.
How to join the PTS
In the PC/Mac launcher, open Settings and enable “Show Public Test Environment”, then download it. Report problems in game with /feedback or /bug. For earlier patches, see our Update 51 Incremental 1 notes or the ESO hub.
