Blizzard published the last class deep dive for World of Warcraft: Forever on October 15: the Paladin. Abilities and talents may still change during the beta, and worldwide launch is November 4.
Baseline changes
- Holy Strike is learned at level 6 and deals instant Holy damage based on 50% of weapon damage.
- Judgement no longer consumes the active Seal.
- Seal of Fury is learned at level 10: each melee swing adds constant Holy damage, which favors fast weapons, and its Judgement taunts from 10 yards.
- Consecration is learned by all Paladins at level 20, instead of being a Holy talent.
- Lay on Hands cooldown drops to 20 minutes, from 1 hour.
- Seal Twisting is no longer a baseline mechanic. It returns as the 31-point Retribution talent Twist of Light.
Holy
Holy gains single-target healing, group support and spell damage tools. Holy Shock moves to the 21-point gold medal and its cooldown drops from 30 to 10 seconds. The new 31-point talent Light’s Vigil works on allies, with an instant heal to every party member, or on enemies, with extra Holy damage.
Protection
Protection gains threat, mana and survival options. The new 21-point gold medal Templar’s Bulwark grants an absorption shield equal to 100% of maximum health for 8 seconds, on a 5-minute cooldown. The 16-point gold medal Swift Judgement has no mana cost and a 1-minute cooldown.
Retribution
Retribution keeps ways to sustain Judgements and mixes weapon attacks with Holy damage. Sacred Arbiter, a new 16-point gold medal, raises Holy Strike damage by 20%. Repentance moves to the 21-point gold medal.
What is still in flux
Blizzard says the Reckoning proc has a known issue: players currently cannot save up 4 charges, and triggered extra attacks can interrupt auto-attack swing timers. Fixes are planned for an upcoming patch. Mass Salvation, the renamed raid version of Salvation, is not live yet.
