FFXIV’s Japan matchmaking now covers all four logical data centers
FFXIV Japan data center matchmaking now covers all four logical data centers since the October 12 maintenance. What changed for your queues.
Final Fantasy XIV now lets players match and recruit across the Japan region’s logical data centers after the October 12 maintenance. The change began on October 13, 2026, and initially covers Japan only.
The Japan physical data center includes Elemental, Gaia, Mana, and Meteor. Players can use several features across those four logical data centers, even when they are on different Worlds.
What changed for players in Japan
The update broadens access for these features across the Japan physical data center:
- Duty Finder and Party Finder
- Ranked Crystalline Conflict matches
- Cross-world Linkshells, PvP Teams, and Fellowships
- Online status, tells, and party invitations between friends
- Free Company chat
Friend tells and party invitations remain unavailable during a duty. Players can still join a Free Company only on their Home World.
Some systems stay tied to a Home World. Linkshells, retainers, housing, and Delivery Moogle deliveries do not become region-wide. Market Board listings also remain tied to the Home World, while purchases can still be made on the current World.
How world travel works after the change
Players use “Visit Another World Server” at an aetheryte in Limsa Lominsa, Gridania, or Ul’dah to choose a World in another Japanese logical data center. FFXIV no longer uses Data Center Travel for transfers between Japan’s logical data centers. Travel from Japan to Oceania remains available through Data Center Travel.
The first rollout is limited to Japan. Square Enix says it plans to extend same-region matching to other data centers after it confirms that the service is stable.
Check your Cross-world Linkshells after the change
The update merges Cross-world Linkshells into one database per physical data center. Players can belong to up to eight at once in each region. If you have nine or more, the extra channels will be deactivated until you use the “Organize CWLS” feature to leave or disband some.
Names for Cross-world Linkshells, PvP Teams, and Fellowships may also receive a number if the merge creates duplicates. Character, retainer, Free Company, and regular Linkshell names are unaffected.
