Albion Online Dragonfire Patch 3: easier Yellow Zone portals and a 15% bonus

Albion Online

Dragonfire Patch 3 for Albion Online: more Yellow Zone portals, new rewards by risk, mobile targeting and a 15% Fame and loot bonus until Oct 19.

Update, Oct 20: the Dragonfire Patch 3 bonus has ended in every region. For what comes next, including the 1v1 Arena and the 2027 season overhaul, see our October Dev Talk recap.

Albion Online’s Dragonfire Patch 3 went live on October 12, 2026. The update makes Small Ancient Lands Portals more common in Yellow Zones, adds time to enter them, adjusts rewards by zone risk, and introduces new mobile targeting controls.

The change gives players two clearer routes into the Ancient Lands. Yellow Zones should offer more frequent, lower-risk access; Red and Black Zones keep their existing Small Portal rewards for players willing to take the higher risk.

What changed in the Ancient Lands with Dragonfire Patch 3

Small Portals in Yellow Zones have a shorter average spawn time and a better chance to appear in each region. Their lock timer is now five minutes, and the entry window is ten minutes. That should make it easier to find a portal on the map and gather a group before it closes.

The tradeoff is lower Fame and loot from those Yellow Zone Small Portals. The reduction does not apply to Small Portals in Red or Black Zones. Large Portals are also more common, especially during prime time. Their loot is more concentrated in the central Fire Drake chest, with a higher chance of Fire Dragon armor artifacts. Ancient Lands mobs are slightly easier as well.

Dragonfire Patch 3 also brings a 15% Fame and loot bonus in the Ancient Lands and Dragon Sanctuary. The official end time depends on the server region: Albion Asia ends on October 18 at 23:00 UTC; Albion Europe and Americas end on October 19 at 10:00 UTC.

The bonus is temporary, so check your server’s deadline before planning a final session. For the Americas realm, the boost ran through the morning of October 19 in Brasília time.

Maeve is now more forgiving, particularly near the end of the encounter. Open-world dragons also stop healing all the way to full when a fight resets: they recover only to the last 20% health threshold the group reached, and they grant more Might.

On mobile, target cycling can now filter for Enemies, Allies, or Party Members. Set the option under Settings → Controls → Auto-Targeting, then switch modes from the HUD. An Automatic option chooses a mode based on your abilities and whether you are in a party. A separate Double Tap to Self-Cast setting is under Controls → General.

If you want safer access, start with the more frequent Yellow Zone portals and expect reduced rewards. If your group is prepared for lethal zones, the Small Portal rewards there have not been reduced. Browse MMO Central’s updates section and Albion Online coverage for more game news.

The patch also shrinks some popup notifications, fixes Xbox chat issues and ships combat balance changes. The full list is in the official notes.

Making the most of the bonus

  • Farm the Ancient Lands and Dragon Sanctuary while the +15% boost was active (it ended October 19, 10:00 UTC on Europe and Americas).
  • Go Yellow when you want easy access and lots of runs, and Red/Black when you want full Small Portal rewards.
  • Bigger groups: watch for Large Portals at prime time and go for the central Fire Drake chest.
