WoW 12.1.7 Echoes of the Worldcore: Talebound and more on PTR
WoW Echoes of the Worldcore (12.1.7) is on the PTR: Return to Dornogal campaign, Talebound mode, Lorewalking, Turbulent Timeways and new runes.
Blizzard has revealed Echoes of the Worldcore, World of Warcraft: Midnight’s next content update, listed as 12.1.7 in the PTR notes. It is on the Public Test Realm now. It brings a new story campaign back in Dornogal, a dark new PvE mode called Talebound, four new Lorewalking stories, the return of Turbulent Timeways and two new Omnium Folio runes. Blizzard has not announced a live release date yet.
Story campaign: “The Return to Dornogal”
Xal’atath has breached the Worldcore, and the only way in is through the damaged Coreway in Dornogal. Players team up with Arator, Brinthe, Dagran and Brann to work out how to reach the Coreway and the Worldcore beyond it.
Talebound: a new PvE action RPG mode
Talebound drops you into the stories of a mysterious Storyteller. You can play solo or with friends, fight enemies and bosses, solve puzzles and find treasure and relics. Progress earns Bound Silver, a Warband-bound currency spent on cosmetics such as transmog sets, decor and the Shadowbound Storybook mount. The store opens from the character select screen, the Game Menu, or Nib in Quillgrave. You also collect Ducats along the way, which convert into the resources Talebound uses for progression.
New Lorewalking quests
Apprentice Lorewalker Li Li Stormstout offers four new stories for players level 10 and up: Jaina, Thrall, the Titans and Tyr. They can be repeated, paused and resumed, but you cannot progress other quests while Lorewalking, and starting a different story before finishing one resets your progress.
Turbulent Timeways returns
The event starts with the update and lasts eight weeks. Keep “Mastery of the Timeways” for any four weeks to earn the “Master of the Turbulent Timeways VI” achievement and the Markeet of the Infinite skyriding mount. Four Timewalking dungeons upgrade the stacking buff to Mastery of Timeways, worth 30% bonus experience, and Archmage Aethas Sunreaver’s Timewalking quests in Silvermoon City temporarily give a Heroic-level Cache of Quel’Thalas Treasures. Timewalking vendors also get new housing decor.
Omnium Folio: two new runes
- Rune of Empowerment: your stat rune (Critical Power, Burning Haste, Masterful Cunning or Versatile Warrior) grants 20% more of its stat.
- Rune of Critical Mass: your Core Rune can trigger extra Void orbs or a Fire blast that damages enemies or heals allies.
Players can also earn two more Motes of Omnial Inquiry.
Other PTR changes
- Housing: fixed decor rotating when converting between rotation formats.
- Herbalism and Mining: more Deftness from Bountiful Harvests and Plentiful Ores.
- Edit Mode: option to click through the Personal Resource Display.
When does Echoes of the Worldcore go live?
Blizzard has not given a date. The update is only on the PTR for now, and content can still change before release. We will update this page when Blizzard announces the date. Still catching up on the current patch? Read our WoW 12.1.5 overview.
