Guild Wars 2’s Nexus of Eternity Legendary Mode is live, and the World First race has ended
GW2 Nexus of Eternity Legendary Mode is live since October 13. How the Vloxx fight changed, the official World First stream and how to prepare.
Update, Oct 20: the World First race ran through October 17 and has ended.
Guild Wars 2’s hardest raid fight so far, the Legendary Mode version of the Nexus of Eternity, went live October 13. It’s the Vloxx encounter that closed Visions of Eternity with “Code of Creation”, and ArenaNet is streaming the race for the world first on its official Twitch channel from October 13 to 17, hosted by Amaverra.
What GW2 Nexus of Eternity Legendary Mode is
“Code of Creation”, released September 15, ended the Visions of Eternity story with the fight against Vloxx. ArenaNet turned that fight into a 10-player raid encounter and a Convergence, then added Challenge Modes on September 29. Legendary Mode is the next step up, and the studio describes it as harder still, with tougher mechanics.
ArenaNet hasn’t published a full list of mechanics or rewards for Legendary Mode, so we’ll update this when the patch notes are out.

The World First race
ArenaNet opened sign-ups on its forum for teams that want their attempts shown on the official Twitch channel during the October 13–17 coverage.
Also live since October 13
According to ArenaNet’s roadmap, Shadow of the Mad King runs from October 13 to November 3. The next big dates are November 10 (Fractal Incursion, a skills and balance update, and the new WvW map beta) and Extra Life Game Day on November 13–14.
Getting ready for Legendary Mode
- Clear Challenge Mode first. Legendary Mode builds on the same encounter, and CM has been out since September 29.
- World First race: it ended October 17.
- Not raiding? Shadow of the Mad King is running at the same time, through November 3.
- Hold off on build changes until the November 10 balance update if you’re planning around Legendary Mode.
Raid basics before you queue
If you are new to Visions of Eternity endgame, the path is linear: Nexus of Eternity normal mode, then the Convergence version, then Challenge Mode (live since September 29) and now Legendary Mode. The encounter is built for 10 players, so you need a full squad and a set composition before trying the hardest version.
