FFXIV logins back on all Worlds after the PHP vulnerability fix

Final Fantasy XIV

FFXIV new logins resumed on all Worlds on October 22 after Square Enix fixed the PHP vulnerability. Save data backup is still paused; housing timer returns Oct 26.

Square Enix has temporarily suspended new logins on every Final Fantasy XIV World. According to the official Lodestone notice posted on October 21, 2026 (16:50 UTC), the team took the game’s patch servers offline to apply security enhancements against a critical vulnerability in the PHP programming language that is affecting systems worldwide. Service has since been restored (see the update below).

Update, October 22, 2026 (12:16 UTC): logins are back. Square Enix confirmed on the Lodestone that updated patch servers went live at about 5:16 a.m. PDT and new logins have resumed on all Worlds. The server backup feature for save data is still suspended for the same reason, with no date yet. The housing auto-demolition timer resumes on October 26, 2026 at 1:00 a.m. PDT (08:00 UTC).

Earlier update, October 22, 2026 (10:59 UTC): Square Enix says the security enhancements for the PHP vulnerability and the related testing are complete and final checks are underway. The team expects new logins to resume today.

Quick summary

  • Status: resolved, new logins resumed on all Worlds on October 22 (5:16 a.m. PDT)
  • What happened: new logins were unavailable on all Worlds from October 21
  • Why: patch servers taken offline to fix a critical PHP vulnerability
  • Housing: the auto-demolition timer resumes on October 26 at 1:00 a.m. PDT
  • Still paused: server backup of save data

Why couldn’t I log in to FFXIV?

The game checks the patch servers when you log in. Square Enix took those servers down as an emergency measure while it hardens them against the PHP vulnerability, so new logins failed on every Data Center, not only on one region. It was not a problem with your account or your connection. If you still cannot log in after October 22, restart the launcher so it picks up the updated patch servers.

Is my house safe?

Yes. Following the login suspension, Square Enix paused the housing auto-demolition timer on all Worlds, so nobody loses a plot because they could not log in. The timer resumes on October 26, 2026 at 1:00 a.m. PDT, so visit your plot before then if you have been away for a while.

What should I do?

  • Wait for the official update on the Lodestone news page or the official FFXIV accounts before trying again.
  • Do not download “fixes” or patches from unofficial sites: the official patch servers are the ones offline.
  • If your subscription or an event deadline is close, keep an eye on the Lodestone for any compensation or extension notice. Square Enix has not announced one so far.
